Welcome to Rosie Ilieva Counselling

About Me

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor. I became a counsellor after pursuing other careers; journalism in my youth, fostering and working with people with learning disabilities in my 30s and 40s.
The threads linking all of these are my curiosity about what makes people tick and my deep empathy for people’s suffering.

Having lived in various countries, I have first-hand knowledge of diversity and difference, and of what it means to feel like an outsider. Sometimes it feels very hard to find that sense of “belonging”.

I have worked at Southampton University Hospitals as a Bereavement support worker and as a student counsellor in various local charity organisations providing therapy for people struggling with their mental health.

Life has been both kind and cruel to me and I consider that to be a meaningful experience. How do we know joy if we haven’t known sadness…how do we feel peace and contentment if we haven’t known stress and upheaval…

As a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I adhere to Ethical Framework for the counselling professions, offering confidential, non-discriminative and ethical service.
